Near the entrance to the theater, you will meet Mare – Ikss’odes’ girlfriend. If you accepted Brill’s quest to find his stolen property, Mare is the one holding the key to the Gith’s apartment. You can obtain it from her using brute force, persuasion, or intellect (requires 15+ Strength, Intelligence, or Charisma). Alternatively, you can simply pocket-pick the key.

Speaking with Thrasson can trigger one of the Nameless One’s memories (requires 18+ Intelligence). You will also find two points of interest here: the Beneathmask Drama Hall and Kabatum’s Residence.

Inside Kabatum’s residence, you will find The Plane Truth – a book that the Modron librarian will gladly accept for his collection.

Kabatum is a concordant killer and the master of this household. The Nameless One can delve into his memories (Wisdom 15+) to recall that they have fought each other before – possibly multiple times – with disastrous results for the Nameless One. Kabatum also possesses the Flame of Order, a sword that once belonged to the Planetar Nite-Sun. You can take the weapon from the concordant killer by force or convince him to hand it over peacefully. Later, you can return it to the celestial, Alviro.

You can purchase several interesting items from Kabatum, including The Bottomless Fang of Manill (functions like a Bag of Holding), the Ring of Fallen Stars (summons a Meteor Swarm), or the Heart of the Fosterer (summons Sohmiens).

You can also attempt to recruit the Kabatum into your party. Though he won’t be interested, he will aid you with an item of your choice (requires 15+ Wisdom). You can choose between:

  • Axe of True Wrath ($+3$, 10% chance to induce Berserk Rage in target, 5% chance to induce Sleep in target, 1% chance to induce Berserk Rage in the wielder)
  • Skin of Devils’ Dread (allows casting „Horror” once per day)
  • Spark from Iadmon (an earring granting immunity to Panic).

Inside the estate, you will also find a piano and a note from Kabatum containing a secret hint. If you press the keys G, A, H in sequence on the piano (Solar – Sol, Lashrael – La, Siwa – Si), a portal to the Mt. Celestia – Glass Tarn will appear nearby.

The portal from Kabatum’s residence will take you to the Mount Celestia, where you will meet the Word Archon. She will ask you for your definition of good and meaning (providing the correct answers requires passing a series of consecutive Intelligence checks ranging from 13 to 16+).

If the Nameless One is a Mage, you can distort the effects of the „Detect Evil” spell during the conversation, which the Archon uses to determine your alignment (your alignment – Good, Evil, or Neutral – actively alters the dialogue).

If your alignment falls within the Evil spectrum, you will be forced into combat. You can also choose to attack the Archon of your own volition. She carries several magic scrolls and a seal needed to open a small cache on a nearby pedestal. Inside, you will find the Sacred Sigil of Knowing (a major artifact granting +3 AC, +1 Strength, permanent Blur, and improved saving throws). The seal can also be stolen.

The Archon also wields a powerful hammer—„The Last Word” (+3).

Haer’Dalis

Raelis Shai

In the backstage at the theater, you will find one of the books sought by the Modron librarian: The Seafarer’s Arch or Final Port-of-Call.

The Maestro is a rather poor fraud posing as a mage. Depending on the Nameless One’s class, you can handle his tricks in various ways: a Mage will call out his fraud and conjure a rain of illusory coins; a Thief will discreetly pickpocket his copper pieces; and a Fighter can simply punch him so hard a coin purse drops from his pockets.

Raelis Shai leads a troupe of actors that includes Haer’Dalis. You can help her write the script for a new play – she will ask you a few questions, and the final outcome will determine your experience point reward (a higher total score yields better rewards):

  • Choosing the Main Characters: Tanar’ri and Baatezu (+2), Tiefling and Aasimar (+1), youths from two warring noble houses (0), Elf and Dwarf (-1)
  • Choosing the Setting: The Lady of Pain’s Maze (+2), Mechanus or Limbo (+1), Upper Planes (+1), Lower Planes (+1), Sigil (0), Faerûn (-1)
  • Defining the Threat: Sigil’s social divide (+1), the factual necessity of existence (+1), an army of the undead (-1), ghosts (-1)
  • Source of the Main Conflict: Rowan Darkwood (+2, only if you have heard of him before, e.g., from Haer’Dalis), a third party opposing the main characters (0), The Blood War (0), discord between the protagonists’ families (-1)

Depending on how well you did, you will earn anywhere from 1,000 to 100,000 experience points.

The extravagantly dressed tiefling in the center of the stage is none other than Haer’Dalis – an actor in the theater troupe (you might recognize him, Raelis, and the ill-fated play they are working on from Baldur’s Gate II). The bard can tell you about the Doomguard, Factol Pentar, Rowan Darkwood, or a mysterious girl you can encounter on the cliffside edge of the residential district.

Haer’Dalis will also recount how he was accused of a 'planned’ insult against Factol Rowan Darkwood, and his persecution by Ulfbrand, a factor of the Fated and head of the Debt Collection Department. He will give you a Fated Coin. Using it will open a portal to Ysgard, located near Brill’s inn. Once there, you will need to convince Ulfbrand to drop his threats.

The woman clad in black robes is the mysterious Æ. You can speak with her about Ravel, the Fortress of Regrets, and the portal to Cania, among other topics. She will also provide clues for certain quests (provided you haven’t completed them yet) and share her thoughts on Kabatum, the Word Archon, or „O” (if you have already met them).

If you get to know Æ better (which requires exhausting a fair number of dialogue options), she will give you the Noonwraith’s Sickle as a token of assistance (a +3 slashing weapon dealing an extra 5% fire damage).
