The Rat God’s Temple

Clues from the mimic (see: Library) will open a new quest in your journal, which involves finding a secret wererat temple.

Speak with Orville: The first thing you need to do is visit Orville in the Rat and Splat (you will reach him naturally as the story progresses). The barkeep will admit that the temple exists and that it is actually Squerrik’s secret temple – the headquarters of an aggressive wererat cult.

  • Note: Extracting this information requires 14 points in Wisdom, Intelligence, or Charisma. Orville will then direct you to the children from the Ditch, who most likely know the way there.

Find the „Abishai”: Your next goal is to find a dangerous abishai (which is actually just some shitlings in a fiend costume wandering around the district).

  • If you haven’t scared them off or destroyed their costume earlier, you can convince them to reveal the location of the temple (for example, by giving them a copper piece each).
  • If you have already gotten rid of them, you will find them without their costume at the Suicide Falls.

Collect rat tails: The kids will reveal that in order to enter the temple, you need a necklace made of fifteen rat tails. You will have to buy the tails from local merchants (e.g., from the Ratcatcher near the Rivergate tavern up above the beach) or gather them yourself.

Craft the necklace: Once you have acquired the rat tails, you need to find someone to craft them into a necklace. Head to the upper floor of The Styx Oarsman and speak to Beatha for this.

Enter the portal: Now that you have the rat tail necklace assembled, you can head to the „entrance,” which consists of interconnected pipes (near Girgosh, south of the library). The portal will activate automatically as you approach.

You will find yourself in the hideout of Squerrik’s cultists, a secret location featured in the first act of the Blizzard in Baator mod. Here, you will have to fight a group of blood wererats.

After defeating the wererats, you can return to the district via the portal. Simply walk back to the exact spot where you arrived to activate it.

You will find numerous amulets in the containers scattered around. Additionally, at the foot of the stairs inside a sunken chest, you will find the Io’s Blood Knuckles (+3, +10 Fire Damage).
