The ferry captain will allow us to return to the Ditch.

Once there, you will find a giggling Cranium Rat. You can speak with it about Many-as-One (if you have already met them), sensory stones, and the alleged „Lord of the Pipe” who reportedly fished out the golem you are looking for. The rat will also tip you off that a rope is necessary for the next crossing.

You can ask the ferry captain for a rope, but he will charge a heavily inflated price of 500 copper pieces. If you refuse and have Morte in your party, the frustrated skull will fly to the other side of the Ditch on his own, fetch a rope from a local vendor, and return to the Nameless One.

Alternatively, you can head to the marketplace (in the district above the Ditch) and buy a rope from the local string merchant.

Once you have acquired the rope, you can use it on a nearby post and climb down into the Pipeline.

The interior of the pipeline is riddled with traps that you can disarm. You will also find a container here holding Yemeth’s Pendant.

Lothar’s golem is trapped by a magical spell – if the Nameless One is a Mage, you can disrupt the enchantment. This allows you to free the golem and order it to return to Lothar, or issue a command that causes it to completely self-destruct.

If destroyed, you can retrieve the golem shard Pabeshts needs from its remains. Alternatively, you can use raw Strength or Dexterity (18+) to break a piece off. You can also use specific items to harvest it: a smith’s hammer, Thildon’s awl, or a pair of pincers.

When you attempt to leave the pipeline after speaking with the golem, a Barmy Spellslinger will block your way. You can defeat the mage in combat, or, if you successfully disrupted the enchantment earlier, you can spring a trap on him (the golem will snap the spellcaster’s neck the moment he tries to attack you).

With the golem shard in hand, return to Pabeshts. As a reward for completing the quest, you will receive the Rat Armor of the Lower Planes (Armor Class: 5).
